Sigrid -
About 15 of us had a nice approx 5 mile hike on the Rawhide Trail at White Ranch open space yesterday. We were on the trail shortly after 8 and it warmed up very quickly so do this one earlier in the season or early in the day. We went clockwise so had a fair amount of shade on the return portion of the loop. A very nice trail that rolls through meadows and woods, losing about 500 feet and then regaining it. A moderate hike and we all felt like we had gotten some exercise. Nice views East toward Denver, and lots of wildflowers in bloom. One picture is of spotted coralroot, an unusual plant that was abundant along one section of the trail that had lots of pine trees, its preferred habitat. Looks like it is going to be another excellent wildflower season so try to join us on a hike soon. |
