Construction on the south end of the Guanella Pass road caused us to change our hike (3 Mile Creek) this morning, and what a good change it turned out to be. We drove on 4 miles to the top of Kenosha Pass and parked on the south side near the campground. Walked out a gently rolling nice surface trail about 2.5 miles to a natural turnaround point, because the trail drops steeply at that point. so we sat and enjoyed the views. Flowers of every kind everywhere, including a thick patch of columbine less than 1/4 mile from start of trail. And stopped at the Kenosha Cafe' on east end of Grant for lunch. Good burgers, sandwiches, posole, soups. A place we've passed many times, but it always looks closed, which it is on Wednesdays. Quick service to prepare lunch for 12. Worth a stop. |
