Sigrid Freese -
About a dozen of us spent 3+ hours exploring new trails on as lovely and peaceful morning. Only a couple of runners on the trails we hiked, as we made a loop from the east parking lot up the Three Sisters trail amid huge rock formations, down through a forest where we joined the Bearberry, Mt. Muhly, Silver Fox and other trails to make about a 5 mile loop. Wore our yaktrax all the way, and were glad in places that others had packed down the deeper snow a bit. With the warmer temps and freezing, melting and thawing, the trail conditions are changing all the time, I expect, but we found packed snow with icy patches on most of the trail with quite a few dry stretches. Barbara Berryman - It was such a gorgeous day. Nothing can compare to our blue skies in Colorado, and they seem even more vivid against the white snow. Imagine, still hiking in the mountains in December. |
